Real-life medieval combat arrives in Astoria for ‘Battle of the Boroughs’

The Melrose Ballroom in Astoria became a spectacle of medieval times as various knights from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx participated in the “Battle of the Boroughs” on Thursday, Sept. 17.
Held by the Armored League, the mix of roleplay and combat sports took place in a battling cage similar to those used in MMA fights.
